And here we go…
Welcome to a website that’s a long time coming – my own. I bought this URL over 15 years ago but have been so busy, and frankly a little lazy, that I just sat on it. But, last year, I was talking to my good friend (and web designer) Larry and he told me we […]

WTF Is This Version of ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’?
Frank Capra’s 1946 film It’s a Wonderful Life is certainly one of the best holiday films ever made. It’s also just one of the best films ever made, period. A big part of that is because of the third act, when the main character, George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart), sees what life would’ve been like if he’d never been born. It […]

Navi might be tall, skinny, and blue, but they’ve still got problems. Problems that you and I can relate to. Problems that the world can relate to. And that’s a huge part of why the Avatar franchise has become the multi-billion dollar success it is and will probably continue to be. The third film in the saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash, opens […]

I Can’t Believe How in Love I Am With ‘Hades 2’
I’ve been playing Hades II non-stop for the past few weeks, and I’ve lost count of the number of times it has blown me away. Every few hours, there’s a new twist, turn, or revelation that makes me sit back in my seat and marvel at how truly marvelous this game is. And while I thought the first Hades was perfect, […]

How the Hell Is This JPG of Han Solo Worth $225?
Would you spend almost $225 for a single digital image of Han Solo from the original Star Wars? For most people, the answer is obviously “No.” But many of us who are using the app Star Wars: Card Trader, from Topps, would kill to have that singular image in our collections. And some people will pay dearly […]

The Mystique Of Mondo And How It’s Changing The Face Of Movie Posters
For the most part, movie posters suck. At the studio level, images with disembodied heads, horribly photoshopped character collections or a man and a woman, back to back, with aw-shucks grins on their face have pretty much become the norm. Gone are the days of Drew Struzan or Saul Bass where a real artist used […]

‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ Has Small Changes That Produce Big Results
Ever since Kill Bill Volume 1 was released in 2003, we’d been hearing that writer/director Quentin Tarantino ultimately planned on releasing both halves in one epic package. Kill Bill Volume 2 came out a year later and it seemed like a logical time for the big reveal. Nope. Then, in 2004, Tarantino showed a combined […]

About Me
The year is 2026. A writer who bought a URL in 2009 decided, yes, now is the time to actually make a website. So now it’s here. As are you. Welcome. It’s long overdue.
If you don’t know me, my name is Germain, and I’m an entertainment journalist. Or a writer. Or a “blogger.” We go by many names. But the long story short is that when I was very young, I decided I wanted to get paid to watch movies. Over the years, I pieced together what exactly that meant and how exactly that would work and, well, here we are.
I’ve been writing about movies and pop culture since I was 16 years old. I was first published around that time. My first major interviews were in early 2001 (Sweet November starring Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron), and I continued to do that through college at New York University.
From there I interned at multiple websites and magazines such as Premiere Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and Us Weekly. Eventually, I was hired by, and became the primary film writer, of my hometown newspaper, the Times Herald-Record. I remained there for about six years, honing my craft.
When I realized New York was kind of done for me, I moved to Los Angeles, where I still reside. There, I quickly fell in with the online film community, working at websites like Collider and Slashfilm. Eventually, I got a job with the sci-fi site io9, a part of Gizmodo, where I still work to this day.
These jobs have helped me live my dreams in ways I never thought possible. And, through this website, I hope to showcase and keep track of all that. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the site.
